You come to a steady circular red light and want to turn right. No sign at the intersection prohibits the turn. What is required?
A waits at a steady circular red light and plans to turn right. Pedestrian C crosses the receiving street while B approaches on the opposite side of A’s street.
Correct answer: Stop completely, then turn after yielding to pedestrians and other traffic.
Why
Unless a sign prohibits it, Nebraska lets you turn right on a steady circular red light after a full stop at the stop line, crosswalk or intersection edge. You must then yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk and to vehicles already using the intersection, and turning without first stopping completely is a violation. A left turn on red is allowed only from a one-way street onto another one-way street, and no turn is allowed on a red arrow.
