Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are driving on a four-lane divided highway at 55 mph, and most traffic is moving at about 65 mph. You will turn left at a crossroad about five miles ahead. Where should you drive for now?
A and B travel along the same side of a divided highway. The card states that A is slower than most traffic and its left turn is five miles away.
Correct answer: In the right lane, and move left as you near the crossroad to turn.
Why
Keeping slower vehicles to the right lets faster traffic pass on the left, where other drivers expect it. On the interstate, the manual adds: stay in the right lane unless you are passing, and avoid lane changes that you do not need. Nebraska law also says that on a freeway, vehicles must not block the flow on purpose by driving side by side at the same speed in lanes next to each other.
