Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are in the left lane of a four-lane highway and plan to turn right onto a road just ahead. A loaded semi-truck is in the right lane, a short distance behind you. What is the safest choice?
A is in the left lane approaching a right-side road. A loaded semi-truck is close behind it in the right lane.
Correct answer: Let the truck pass, then move into the right lane behind it, or turn at a later road.
Why
The area just in front of a truck is one of its No-Zones: a car there limits the truck driver's ability to stop or steer safely. Plan your lane early, so that you are in the correct lane well before your turn. If you miss the chance, it is safer to go on and turn at the next road than to cut in.
