Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are approaching an intersection with a steady red light. A white stop line is painted across your lane, and a crosswalk is just past it. You plan to go straight. What must you do?
A approaches a steady circular red signal from well before the stop line. A marked crosswalk lies just beyond the line.
Correct answer: Stop at the stop line and stay stopped until the light turns green.
Why
If there is no stop line, stop before the crosswalk; if there is no crosswalk, stop before you enter the intersection. After a complete stop, a right turn on red is allowed unless a sign prohibits it, and a left turn on red is allowed only from a one-way street onto another one-way street. You may never turn on a red arrow. If a signal is dark because of a power failure, treat the intersection as an all-way stop.
