You signal to move into the left lane, and the blind spot warning light on your left mirror comes on. What should you do?
Blue A signals to move left while silver B occupies the adjacent left area. An enlarged left-mirror detail shows the warning is on.
Correct answer: Stay in your lane, check the mirror and over your shoulder, and wait until clear.
Why
Blind spot monitors warn by a symbol, a sound or a vibration, and many give a stronger warning when you signal toward an occupied lane. The handbook still tells you to check your mirrors and look over your shoulder before each lane change. Nevada law does not let you leave your lane until you have signaled and made sure that the move is safe.
