Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You drive on a city street and want to move into the lane to your left. Your mirrors show the lane is clear. What should you do next?
A drives in the center lane of a street and intends to move to the left lane. Both mirrors show that lane as clear, as the card states.
Correct answer: Signal, check your blind spot over your shoulder, then move if clear.
Why
Signal at least 100 feet before a lane change on city streets and at least 300 feet before one on highways and freeways. Keep the head check short, so that your eyes are soon back on the road ahead. Some cars have blind-spot warning lights, but they do not replace your own look.
