Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You drive on a two-way street with two lanes in each direction and no center turn lane. You plan to turn left at the next intersection. Which lane should you use as you approach?
A white inset identifies the learner’s blue car A separately from an empty two-way intersection. Each direction has two lanes, with no center turn lane.
Correct answer: The left lane of your side, just to the right of the center line.
Why
While you wait to turn left, keep your wheels pointed straight ahead. If a car hits you from behind, straight wheels keep you from being pushed into oncoming traffic. Yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians, and look once more in each direction before you start the turn.
