You turn left from a two-way street onto a street that has two lanes going your way. You need to turn right two blocks later. How should you finish the left turn?
A prepares to turn left from a two-way street onto a street with two lanes going its way. The later right turn is two blocks ahead, as the card states. No turn or lane-change path is shown before answering.
Correct answer: Turn into the left lane, and change lanes later, well past the intersection.
Why
Each turn has a set path: a right turn ends in the right-hand lane, and a left turn ends in the nearest lane going your way. When every driver keeps to that path, cars that turn from opposite directions do not collide. A later lane change is a separate move with its own mirror check, signal and blind-spot check.
