Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You must park on a steep hill on a rural road that has no curb, only a gravel edge. Which way should you turn the front wheels?
A is parked outside the traveled part of an uphill rural road on a gravel shoulder. The road edge has no curb.
Correct answer: Toward the edge of the road, uphill or downhill
Why
New Hampshire law requires a driver who leaves a car on any grade to set the brake and turn the front wheels to the curb or the side of the road. Where there is no curb, turn the wheels toward the road edge, whether the car faces uphill or downhill. Then a car that starts to roll moves away from traffic, not into it.
