Passing target: 80% (32/40)
You approach a sharp curve on a wet road, and trees block your view of the end of the curve. How should you handle your speed?
A approaches a sharp right-hand curve on a wet two-lane road. Trees on the inside of the bend obstruct the view of its end. The pavement has a wet sheen and A is still before the curve.
Correct answer: Slow down before the curve, then use light, steady acceleration through it.
Why
Tires have limited grip, and a curve already uses part of it to turn the car. Hard braking in the curve asks the tires for more grip than they have and can start a skid. New Hampshire law also requires a reduced speed when approaching and going around a curve.
