Passing target: 80% (40/50)
You come to a roundabout with a center island. You want to leave at the exit on your left, three quarters of the way around. How should you drive through it?
A approaches the circular intersection from the left and intends to take the upper exit. The center island, entry sign and exits are visible, with no route or circulation arrows selected.
Correct answer: Turn right to enter, follow the flow around the island, and turn right to leave.
Why
Because nobody turns left across oncoming traffic, roundabouts have far fewer severe crashes than ordinary intersections. Obey the signs and markings at the entrance, which are official traffic control devices, and look for pedestrians and bicyclists as you enter and leave. For older New Jersey traffic circles, the signs at each entrance decide who yields.
