Observation, Speed & SpaceStandalone practice
You plan to move into the next lane. Your inside and side mirrors show that the lane is clear. Where could another vehicle still be hidden from you?
A travels in the center lane of a three-lane roadway. The adjoining lanes are visible beside the car.
Correct answer: Beside your car, near its rear corners on each side
Why
A quick look over your shoulder, just before you move, is the only way to check a blind spot. Keep the look short, because traffic ahead can stop while your eyes are away. On a road with three or more lanes, also check the far lane, since a driver there may move into the same space. Motorcycles and bicycles are small and easy to miss.
