Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
Two solid yellow lines separate your lane from oncoming traffic. You want to turn left into a driveway on the other side of the road. What is the rule?
A is beside two solid yellow center lines, with a private driveway on the opposite side of the roadway.
Correct answer: You may cross them to turn into the driveway when it is safe.
Why
Yellow lines separate traffic moving in opposite directions, and two solid yellow lines mean that drivers on neither side may cross them to pass. The law makes an exception for a driver turning left into or out of an alley, private road or driveway. Before you turn, yield to oncoming traffic and wait until the turn is safe.
