School Zones, Railways & Work AreasStandalone practice
You are on a two-lane road with no median. Ahead, a school bus is stopped in the opposite lane with its red lights flashing. What must you do?
A meets a stopped school bus on an undivided two-lane roadway. The bus’s red lamps flash and its stop arm is extended.
Correct answer: Stop at least 10 feet from the bus, and stay stopped until its red lights go off.
Why
The stop rule applies whether the bus is on your side of the road, on the other side, or at an intersection that you are coming to. The legal stop ends when the bus turns off its signals, starts to move, or the bus driver waves you on. Even then, the manual says not to go until any children have left the roadway.
