Passing target: 70% (14/20)
You drive alone at 8 a.m. on a city street. The right lane has white diamond symbols on the pavement, and a sign says the lane is for buses and car pools of two or more people from 7 to 10 a.m. What does this mean for you now?
A travels east in the general lane beside a right-side lane marked by white outline diamonds. The cards state that A’s driver is alone at 8 a.m. and that the right lane is posted for buses and carpools of two or more from 7 to 10 a.m.
Correct answer: You may not use the lane now; it is reserved for the vehicles and hours on the sign.
Why
Reserved lanes help buses and vehicles with more people move faster on busy streets and highways. The signs next to the diamond tell you who may use the lane and when. On some city streets, the solid line beside the lane changes to a broken line near a corner; there, other drivers may enter the lane to turn right at the next intersection.
