You come to a steady red light in Albany and want to turn right. No sign, signal or marking forbids the turn. What must you do?
In Albany, A is stopped in the right lane before a circular red light and plans a right turn. No sign or marking prohibits it.
Correct answer: Stop fully, yield to pedestrians and traffic, and then turn when safe
Why
The same stop-and-yield rule allows a left turn on red from a one-way road onto another one-way road. You may not turn on red where a NO TURN ON RED sign, another sign, a signal or a pavement marking forbids it, and a school bus carrying students may never turn right on red. New York City has a different rule, so know where you are driving.
