Passing target: 70% (14/20)
You follow a slow car on a two-lane road. The center markings are a solid yellow line next to your lane and a broken yellow line next to the oncoming lane. Who may cross these lines to pass?
A follows slower car B on a two-way road. The center line beside A is solid yellow; the parallel line beside the empty opposing lane is broken yellow.
Correct answer: Only drivers who go the other way, on the broken-line side, when it is safe.
Why
When a solid line and a broken line run side by side, read the line closest to your lane. If the solid line is on your side, stay behind the slow car until the markings change and the road ahead is clear. These markings are put where passing is especially dangerous, so obeying them protects you from a head-on crash. You may still cross them to turn left into a driveway.
