Passing target: 70% (14/20)
You are on a bridge with signals above each lane. There is a steady red X above the lane to your left and a green arrow above your lane. A slow truck is ahead of you. What should you do?
A follows truck B on a bridge. A green downward lane-control arrow is over their right lane; a red X is over the empty lane to their left.
Correct answer: Stay in your lane behind the truck, and do not enter the left lane
Why
Lane-use signals above the road show which lanes you may use at certain times. A lane under a red X may be closed, for example for a crash or road work, or it may be set aside for traffic going the other way. State law says the red X also changes the meaning of other traffic controls for that lane, so it wins over lane lines that would allow a pass.
