Passing target: 70% (14/20)
On a two-lane road with a solid yellow center line, a pickup truck follows only a few feet behind your car. What should you do?
Blue car A travels on a two-lane road with a solid yellow center line. Silver pickup B follows only a few feet behind A, and a clear paved shoulder lies on the right.
Correct answer: Slow down a little and, when it is safe, signal and pull off the road to let it pass.
Why
A tailgater has no room to stop if you brake, so your goal is to end the situation, not to teach a lesson. Extra space in front of you also helps, because you can then slow down gently if traffic ahead stops. On a road with more than one lane in your direction, simply move to another lane.
