Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You must back your car a long distance down a narrow alley to reach a place where you can turn around. What is the highest speed that the North Carolina handbook allows while you back?
Correct answer: 10 mph
Why
In reverse, a car responds to the steering wheel differently, and your view behind the car is limited even when you turn your head. A low speed gives you time to see a child, a pet or an object and to stop before you hit it. Use 10 mph as the upper limit, and go slower in tight or busy places such as driveways and parking lots.
