Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You reach the entry of a single-lane roundabout. A bicyclist who is already in the roundabout comes toward your entry from your left. What should you do?
A approaches the south entry of a single-lane roundabout at a YIELD sign. Cyclist B travels east along the lower part of the circle toward A’s entry from the left; no entry path is selected for A.
Correct answer: Wait until the bicyclist passes, then enter and go counterclockwise
Why
Roundabouts are safer than many ordinary intersections because everyone moves in one direction at a low speed, about 15 to 20 mph. As you approach, slow down, look left for vehicles and bicyclists already in the circle, and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. Use your turn signal when you exit. Never enter while an emergency vehicle with flashing lights and a siren goes through.
