You are waiting at a green light. A funeral procession, with headlights and hazard lights on, is going through the intersection against its red light, behind a lead car that entered on green. What should you do?
A has a green signal while funeral-procession cars B and C continue north through the intersection. Their headlights and hazard lamps are shown, the procession’s signal is red, and the card states that its lead car entered on green.
Correct answer: Wait, and do not enter the intersection until you can go without crossing the procession's path.
Why
North Carolina lets the whole procession follow its lead vehicle through an intersection, and it forbids other drivers to drive between procession vehicles. You may pass a procession going your way only where the road is marked for two or more lanes in that direction. Drivers coming from the opposite direction may choose to yield by slowing down or stopping off the road.
