Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a four-lane highway, a motorcycle rides near the left side of your lane, and there is room to its right. You want to pass it. What should you do?
A follows motorcycle B in the right lane of a four-lane road. B rides near the left side of that lane, leaving visible space to its right; the adjacent same-direction lane is clear.
Correct answer: Change to the next lane and pass it as you would pass a car or a truck.
Why
A motorcycle rider moves within the lane to avoid potholes, gravel and wind gusts, so the rider needs the whole lane. Motorcycles are small and easy to miss in a blind spot, so check carefully before you change lanes, turn or pull out. Give a motorcyclist the same right-of-way that you give the driver of any other vehicle.
