Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are driving at night on a two-lane road with your low beams on. An oncoming driver keeps the high beams on, even after you flash your lights once. What should you do?
Through a windshield at night, car B approaches in the opposite lane with bright headlight glare. The card states that B kept its high beams on after one flash and that the viewing driver is already using low beams.
Correct answer: Keep your low beams on and look toward the right edge of your lane until the car has passed.
Why
Glare from high beams can blind you for a moment, and your own high beams would blind the other driver. North Carolina law requires every driver to dim headlights when meeting a vehicle within 500 feet. Slow down if the glare makes it hard to see the road ahead.
