Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are halfway around a single-lane roundabout when you hear a siren and see an ambulance with flashing lights approaching it. What should you do?
A is inside a single-lane roundabout, and ambulance B approaches the west entry with lit warning lamps. The card states that B’s lights flash and its siren sounds; A’s intended exit is marked on the right.
Correct answer: Continue to your exit, leave the roundabout, and then pull over to the right and stop.
Why
A roundabout is an intersection, and the law tells drivers to pull over clear of intersections when an emergency vehicle approaches. Stopping inside the circle would block the path that the emergency vehicle needs. If you have not yet entered, do not enter while an emergency vehicle is passing through.
