Passing target: 80% (24/30)
Your road joins a main road at a red-and-white triangle sign, point down, with the word YIELD. A car on the main road will reach the intersection at about the same time as you. What must you do?
A approaches a downward-pointing red-and-white YIELD sign where its road joins the main road. B approaches on the main road, with the card stating that the cars will arrive at about the same time.
Correct answer: Slow down, and stop if you must, so that the car on the main road goes first
Why
A yield sign does not always need a stop: if the main road is clear, you may go on after you slow down and check. When traffic is coming, it is your job to wait for a safe gap. A driver who enters without yielding forces main-road traffic to brake or swerve.
