Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a two-lane highway, you are in a passing zone behind a slow pickup. The oncoming lane is clear far ahead, and the pickup has moved close to the right edge of its lane. How should you pass?
A follows pickup B in the right lane of a two-lane highway with a broken yellow center line. B is near the right edge, and the oncoming lane is clear ahead. No passing path or mirror clearance is selected.
Correct answer: Pass on its left, and move back only when its whole front shows in your inside mirror.
Why
A pass puts you in the lane of oncoming traffic, and many head-on crashes happen during a pass. Plan to be back in your lane at least 200 feet before you meet an oncoming vehicle. The driver who is being passed must not speed up. Pass a large truck completely on the left, and do not stay beside it.
