Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a two-lane highway, the center line on your side is broken, and a slow truck is ahead of you. The top of a hill is a short distance ahead, and you cannot see what is coming over it. What should you do?
A follows slow truck B toward a hilltop on a two-lane highway with a broken yellow center line. A separate side profile shows the crest that prevents a view of oncoming traffic beyond it.
Correct answer: Stay back, and pass only after the hilltop when you can see the road is clear.
Why
Many head-on crashes happen while one vehicle passes another. The same ban applies when you are 100 feet or less from an intersection, a railroad crossing or a tunnel, and when fog, snow or rain reduces your view. Before any pass, ask yourself if you can get back into your lane before you meet an approaching vehicle.
