Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a two-lane highway with a broken yellow center line, you are behind a slow farm truck. A railroad crossing is about 80 feet ahead, and no oncoming traffic is in sight. May you pass the truck now?
A follows farm pickup B toward a railroad crossing on a two-lane highway with a broken yellow center line. The opposing lane is empty, and the card places the crossing about 80 feet ahead of A.
Correct answer: No. You may not drive left of center within 100 feet of a railroad crossing.
Why
Vehicles can stop at or cross the road at intersections and railroad crossings, and a train cannot stop for you. If you pass there, you can be caught in the wrong lane with nowhere to go. Wait until you are past the crossing and can see far enough ahead to pass safely.
