Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You drive on a rural highway and plan to turn right onto a county road ahead. When must your turn signal be on?
A approaches a county road on the right of a rural two-way highway. There is no intervening street or driveway, and the question image has no answer-distance marking.
Correct answer: Without a break during at least the last 100 feet before you turn.
Why
Your signal tells drivers behind you why you will slow down, so they can adjust before you brake. At highway speed a car covers 100 feet in about one second, so give the signal in good time. The same law requires a signal before you change lanes or merge. Also know the hand signals, and give bicyclists and motorcyclists room to make the moves that they signal.
