Passing target: 75% (30/40)
On a freeway, a car follows very close behind you. Your exit is 2 miles ahead, and the lane to your left is full. What is the best way to protect yourself?
A travels in the right freeway lane with B very close behind and C farther ahead. Cars D, E and F occupy the left lane; the card states that A’s exit is still two miles ahead.
Correct answer: Keep a steady speed, leave more space ahead, and signal early before you slow for the exit
Why
Extra space in front of your car lets you slow down gradually if the traffic ahead stops, so the driver behind has more time to react. An early signal before you slow for the exit warns the tailgater before your brake lights come on. When the next lane is clear, you can also move over and let the driver pass.
