Passing target: 75% (30/40)
You drive out of a store's driveway in a business district. A public sidewalk crosses the driveway just before the street. What must you do?
A approaches a public sidewalk across the exit of a store driveway in a business district. A is still behind the sidewalk; silver car B is on the street beyond it.
Correct answer: Stop before the sidewalk, yield to people on it, then yield to traffic on the street.
Why
In a business or residential area, a driver who comes out of an alley, driveway, building or private road must stop before the sidewalk; if there is no sidewalk, stop at the point nearest the street where you can see traffic (ORC 4511.431). Then yield to all traffic on the street (ORC 4511.44). Pull out only when the gap is large enough for you to enter and reach the speed of traffic.
