Passing target: 75% (30/40)
You stop at a steady red light and want to turn right. No sign prohibits a turn on red. A pedestrian has just started to cross the street that you will turn onto. What should you do?
A is stopped facing north at a circular red signal and plans to turn right. Pedestrian B has just stepped from the south curb into the marked crossing of the street A will enter; no sign prohibits the turn.
Correct answer: Wait for the pedestrian and any cross traffic to clear, then turn.
Why
In Ohio, you may turn right on a steady red light unless a sign prohibits it or a red arrow shows (ORC 4511.13). Stop at the stop line, or before the crosswalk if there is no line. Then act as you would at a stop sign and let all pedestrians and cross traffic clear. Ohio also allows a left turn on red from a one-way street onto another one-way street, with the same stop-and-yield duties.
