A yellow warning sign shows a sharp curve ahead. The road is dry, but trees block your view of the end of the curve. How should you control your speed?
A approaches a right-hand curve on a dry two-lane road. Trees screen the end of the curve; an enlarged detail shows the yellow right-curve warning sign ahead.
Correct answer: Slow down before the curve, then use slight, steady gas through it.
Why
Tires have only a limited amount of grip, and a turn uses part of it. If you also brake hard in the curve, the tires can lose grip and the car can skid off the road. Slow down more when the road is slippery, when you follow another vehicle, or when you cannot see the end of the curve.
