Passing target: 80% (16/20)
You drive on a city street and plan to turn right at the next corner. A bicyclist rides near the right edge of your lane, a short distance ahead of you. What should you do?
A plans a right turn at the next corner. B rides ahead near the right edge of A’s lane; there is no separate bicycle lane.
Correct answer: Slow down, merge right behind the rider, and turn after the bike clears the corner
Why
In Oklahoma, a person who rides a bicycle on the road has the same rights and duties as the driver of a vehicle. A driver who passes a rider and then turns right across the bike's path leaves the rider no room to stop. Before a right turn, slow down, check your mirror, and move right behind the rider, the same as you would behind a car. Turn only when the rider is no longer in your path.
