Observation, Speed & SpaceStandalone practice
Early on a school morning, you drive on a highway outside any city or town. You enter a properly marked school zone while it is in effect. The signs do not post a different school-zone limit. What is the highest speed that Oklahoma law allows here?
Correct answer: 25 mph
Why
The 25 mph limit applies at the times when the school zone is in effect, which the signs or flashing beacons show. The Department of Transportation can post a different school-zone limit after an engineering study, and cities and towns set their own school-zone limits, so always obey the posted sign. A speeding fine in a school zone is doubled. Children can run into the road without warning, so slow down and watch the sides of the road.
