You and another driver stop at a four-way stop at the same moment. The other car is on your right. Both of you plan to go straight. Who goes first?
A and B are stopped at a four-way stop at the same time. A approaches eastbound, and B is on the south approach to A’s right; both intend to go straight.
Correct answer: The driver on your right goes first, because you are on the left.
Why
The order of arrival decides who goes first at a four-way stop, so the car-on-the-right rule is only for a tie. Make eye contact with the other driver before you move, because not every driver knows the rule. If the other driver waves you on, go only when you are sure that the way is clear.
