What should you do if your vehicle catches fire while you are driving?
Blue A is still in the travel lane of a two-way road. Smoke and flames appear at the hood. The road has a paved shoulder; no stopping route or evacuation instruction appears.
Correct answer: Stop off the road, switch off and get everyone well away
Why
Pull off the road as soon as you can do so safely, switch off the vehicle, get everyone out, and move well away from the fire and traffic. Call 911 from a safe place. Keep the hood closed because opening it could intensify the fire. Do not return for possessions.
