Passing target: 16 correct signs and 16 correct rules (TLA practice targets)
You approach in the lane beside a bus bay. A full-size transit bus displays the prescribed rear Yield to Bus sign and signals that it is ready to re-enter your lane. What must you do?
A westbound city transit bus B is in an indented bus bay on the north side of a two-way road, beside a bus-stop marker. Its rear-left amber indicator is active, and the prescribed Yield/Cédez bus sign is mounted beside that lamp. Blue A approaches from behind in the lane adjacent to the bay. An inset enlarges the rear sign and signal. No answer route is shown.
Correct answer: Yield the right-of-way to the bus.
Why
A driver in the lane adjacent to a bus bay must yield to a qualifying bus that signals it is ready to re-enter that lane. The bus driver must signal only when ready and must not pull into the path of a vehicle that is too close for its driver to yield practically. The prescribed rear sign is part of the regulation’s definition of the bus covered by this rule.
