You are stopped at a STOP sign. You looked left and then right, and both directions seemed clear. Why should you look to the left once more before you pull out?
A waits behind a stop line at a STOP sign. The intersection is empty. Traffic-direction arrows show the two opposing lanes of the cross street. The card says A has looked left and right and both seemed clear.
Correct answer: Traffic from the left reaches your path first, and a car may have come into view since your first look.
Why
The left-right-left scan applies at intersections, driveways, shopping-center exits and any place where traffic streams meet. Do not assume that other traffic will stop, even when it has a stop sign or a signal. If buildings, bushes or parked vehicles block your view, move forward slowly until you can see clearly.
