Licensing & Test ReadinessStandalone practice
Lena, age 16, received her learner's permit on March 10. She finished all 65 required practice hours by June 1. What is the earliest date on which she may take the road test?
Correct answer: September 10, which is six months after her permit was issued.
Why
The 6-month wait gives a teen time to practice in many conditions, such as darkness, rain and heavy traffic. The eligibility date is printed on the learner's permit, and PennDOT lets young drivers book a road test in advance for a date on or after it. The permit is valid for one year, and each permit gives three tries to pass the road test.
