Passing target: 83.3% (15/18)
Driver A and Driver B drive toward each other on a two-lane road. The center line has a solid yellow line on Driver A's side and a broken yellow line on Driver B's side. Both drivers are behind slow vehicles, and the road ahead is clear. Who may pass?
A travels upward behind a silver car, and B travels downward behind another silver car on a two-lane road. The center marking is solid yellow beside A’s lane and broken yellow beside B’s lane.
Correct answer: Only Driver B, because the broken line is on Driver B's side.
Why
Read the center line from your own side: the line nearest to your lane is the one that controls you. Pennsylvania law forbids driving on the left side of striping that marks a no-passing zone. Even next to a broken line, pass only when the left side is clear of oncoming traffic far enough ahead for you to finish the pass.
