Passing target: 80% (32/40)
A has entered the intersection legally and is stopped while waiting for oncoming B to pass before turning left. How should A’s front wheels be positioned while waiting?
An overhead view shows blue A inside an intersection and silver B approaching in the opposing lane. A’s front wheels are concealed beneath its body; a card identifies A as waiting to turn left.
Correct answer: Straight ahead until it is safe to begin the turn
Why
Keep the front wheels straight while stopped and waiting to turn left. Turn them only when you can safely begin the turn. If a vehicle hits A from behind while its wheels are already turned left, A may be pushed into oncoming traffic. Continue to check for oncoming traffic, pedestrians and other conflicts; reaching the turning point first does not give A priority over B.
