Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
Another driver is passing you in an ordinary lawful passing situation. How should you respond?
Silver B is alongside and partly ahead of blue A while passing on the left of a two-way road with a broken yellow centre line. Both cars face the same direction.
Correct answer: Keep a steady course and do not speed up
Why
Do not increase your speed while being passed or about to be passed. Keep a stable course within your lane and help the manoeuvre finish safely; slow down if the situation requires it. Do not drift toward the passing vehicle, block its return or treat the pass as a contest. This is the ordinary passing case, not a claimed instruction for every possible emergency evasive manoeuvre.
