Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
You are leaving a private driveway. A pedestrian is using the sidewalk across the driveway opening. What must you do?
A blue car approaches a driveway opening across a sidewalk. A pedestrian is near the opening and a silver car is on the public road.
Correct answer: Yield to the pedestrian and keep the crossing path clear.
Why
Before leaving private property, signal your intention and yield to vehicles and pedestrians using the public road. Check the sidewalk in both directions and stop as needed before blocking a pedestrian's path. Then check road traffic before entering. The absence of a driveway stop sign does not give you priority over either sidewalk users or road traffic.
