Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
On the two-way road shown, which approach lane should the blue car use before an ordinary left turn when no other lane is designated for it?
A blue car approaches a junction on a two-way road with two lanes in its direction. It is initially in the lane beside the right curb.
Correct answer: The lane on its own side closest to the centre line
Why
Prepare an ordinary left turn from the lane nearest the centre line on your own side of a two-way road, unless a different lane is designated. Signal and make any necessary lane change safely before the intersection. Yield to conflicting oncoming traffic and to pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road you enter. Follow the correct receiving lane instead of sweeping across other lanes.
