Intersections & Right-of-WayStandalone practice
Outside the island of Montréal, you want to turn right at a red light. No sign prohibits that turn at this time. What must you do first?
Correct answer: Make a complete stop, then check and yield, and turn only if it is safe.
Why
Where a right turn on red is permitted, stop completely at the stop line or before the pedestrian crossing. Confirm that no applicable sign or time restriction prohibits the turn. Check left, ahead and right, including the right mirror and blind spot, and check left again. Yield to pedestrians, cyclists and traffic before turning only when the way is clear. You are never required to turn on red.
