Passing target: 75% in each of the three areas
Two ordinary lanes in your direction are separated by a solid white line. May you cross it simply to change lanes and pass an ordinary car ahead?
Two same-direction lanes separated by a solid white line, with a blue car remaining in its lane.
Correct answer: No; an ordinary lane change is not an exception
Why
Québec prohibits crossing a solid line except in specific permitted situations. An ordinary lane change to pass an ordinary car is not one of those exceptions. Wait for an allowed, safe opportunity. Do not turn this into a claim that a solid line can never be crossed: the Code contains narrow exceptions, including safely leaving an obstructed or closed lane and certain access or passing situations.
