You reach an intersection that has no signs or signals. A car on the street to your right arrives at the same time as you. Who must yield?
A approaches an uncontrolled intersection from the left of the picture, heading east. B approaches from the bottom, heading north on the street to A’s right. The card says they arrive at the same time; no signs, signals or stop lines appear.
Correct answer: You must yield, because the other car is on your right.
Why
The manual tells you to treat an uncontrolled intersection as if a yield sign were there: slow down, cover the brake and be ready to stop. If another vehicle is already in the intersection, yield to it. The same yield-to-the-right rule applies at a four-way stop when two vehicles stop at the same time.
