Passing target: 20 correct signs and 20 correct rules
A parking stall is at 90 degrees to the aisle, and backing into it is permitted. Why does SGI recommend backing into this type of stall?
A car is beside a clearly empty parking stall set at 90 degrees to the aisle, between separately occupied stalls.
Correct answer: You can check the empty space before backing in and have a better view when driving out.
Why
For a 90-degree stall, SGI recommends backing in unless it is prohibited. First check that the space and manoeuvre are clear. The front-end swing then occurs in the aisle, and you can drive out later with a better view of people and traffic. You still need to check and yield before leaving. This recommendation is different from the usual forward entry into roughly 60-degree angle-parking stalls.
